The cross of Canterbury

A lengthy but excellent article analysing Rowan William's term in office, his approach and (inevitable?) failures and some of the anomalies inherent in the very role of Canterbury, which it points out becomes "the focus of our fantasises and frustrations" without the role having the power to deliver. I love the word play found in Lost in the Wilderness; the Communion is looking for a "saviour" and  it asks who in their right minds would be prepared to take up that particular cross?
