Cleverbot the priest?

OK, so this  piece which I read on The Guardian comment is free amused me anyhow! I was quite taken with the answer to the question, "What happens at the end of the bible?" The answer: "Harry kills Voldemort. It all ends. " Given that this is a work in progress, I think we may have a solution to the problem of who should be the next Archbishop of Canterbury.

  1. What a great idea. It could chair PCC meetings while I'm off down the pub. Deanery Chapter, further training, committee meetings - it would be good at them all. It could be programmed to prepare & lead services, too. Civic services especially.

I could then spend my time with real people, listening and talking about the stuff that really matters. Which is what tends to get neglected under the weight of churchy machinery.

I wonder if the bishop would notice the difference....?

  3. In the case of the ABC you could tell the difference by the fact its beard was under better control. In the case of Iffy Vicar the difference might be that it wouldn't be as partial to whisky, or mutter "bugger" when it dropped things or mislaid the notices:)

  4. It could definitely chair meetings. That would free up valuable pub, dog and people time.

  5. The dog definitely approves of my getting a Robovic. Or should that be an Iffybot?

PS I didn't you'd ever heard what I said when I mislaid the notices.....

  6. I am sure you could order one online. Do you think it would resign if protesters took over your churchyard?

  7. If Iffybot resigned when protesters occupied the churchyard that would definitely blow my cover, as I'd probably be down there with the protesters. However, I'm sure I could programme Iffybot to take a more liberal approach.

You ought to have warned me you could lip-read. What else did you see me not saying?
