A Wrighteous warning

To those of you who are thinking of setting up a blog, just take heed! Tom Wright thinks it might be a form of "cultural masturbation" and should be used with caution. He doesn't say whether or not it'll make you go blind.

NT Wright on Blogging/Social Media from Bill Kinnon on Vimeo.

  1. Have you ever noticed that Wright rhymes with shite?

  2. Blogging is not as time-consuming as World Tours for book-signings. Such activities can prevent a man from spending any time attending to his Diocese.

  3. He is too busy defending the Anglican communion from the TEC and gay people to blog anyway - you have to get your priorities right.

  4. Reluctant though I am to defend a bishop, Tom Wright is very much a people person and I think that's where he's coming from on this one. If you watch the clip you notice he doesn't say blogging is bad, he says it should be balanced by equal time in contact with real people in the flesh. I think he's got a point.
I've known students who'd spent so much time in their rooms with their computers, they had no idea how to have even a simple conversation with someone.

  5. I may well be being a bit harsh and, yes, there's a danger in all things. I know very little of Tom Wright as a person, only the coverage he gets in the media. I did read the response to Anaheim by Williams and Wright and I have to admit that I wasn't impressed.
