Do dogs have souls ( part two)

On the other hand, it is just possible that dogs have convinced us that they have souls by the simple expedient of treating us humans like deities ( usually in the pursuit of food or walkies.)

  1. Hmm. My dog treats me less like a god, more like a servant (am trying to do something about that).
But if they were clever enough to convince us that they have souls (I'm not convinced, BTW) by dint of acting and psychology, that would make them geniuses. Wouldn't it?

  2. I think they just want to convince us to give them food - but there is definitely an instinctive ability to manage humans and maybe even understand our psychology - at least our emotions - at some level.

  3. I've just run across this quote:
'In a public audience on January 19th 1990 Pope John Paul 11 said "also the animals possess a soul and men must love and feel solidarity with smaller brethren" He pointed out that in Genesis "the way in which man was created suggests a relationship with the spirit or the breath of God. And one reads that after having created man from the dust of the earth, the Lord God 'breathed life into his nostrils and man became a living soul.'" He went on to say that animals have the breath of life and were given it by God.'
That's from an atheist website for schools!

  4. It is so good that we can rely on atheist websites to spread the word.
